Minnesota was part of the Louisiana purchase when the United States acquired the land from the French in 1803. It grew, because of its importance for trading. On March 3, 1849, the people of the state got together to form an organized incorporated territory. On May 11, 1858, the Minnesota territory became a state.
It helped economic development as helped expand America in population through the territory it had acquired through the Louisiana purchase. Economically it set us back on track because it increased trade with Mexico as well as transportation.
Farmers had to pay for using the port at New Orleans before the Louisiana Purchase because it was controlled by Spain. Spain, which had acquired the Louisiana Territory from France, required farmers to pay tariffs and fees to use the port for trading their goods.

Interesting. They occurred very distantly in time (the Louisiana Purchase in 1803 and the Indian Removal Act in 1830. However, I suppose they can be said to be related because the "Indian Territory" to which the eastern Indians were "voluntarily" relocated (often at gunpoint) was located in lands which the United States had acquired via the Louisiana Purchase. Most of the "Indian Territory" later became the state of Oklahoma. The Gadsden Purchase was the United States' land acquisition from Mexico in 1853. The U.S. paid $15,000,000 (including $3,000,000 in claims of American citizens) for the 45,535 square miles of land that became the southern parts of Arizona and New Mexico. The purchase was made by James Gadsden, for who the purchase was named after.
