Answer:

According to The Bible, and all historical accounts, the descendants of Abraham and Hagar are the Arabs of the Arabian Peninsula.

First of all: Ishmael was Hagar's child. God said that He would make, from Ishmael, "a great nation".

Abraham settled Hagar and Ishmael in "Paran", according to the Bible. In fact, the history of the Arabs records that 'Paran' is the original name for the valley of Mecca - in fact, the name Paran was given to that valley because of Hagar and Ishmael.

The Bible says that Ishmael, as a baby, was with his mother in the place that was to be called Paran. He was thirsty and was kicking his feet on the ground beneath him. Up sprang a well of water. Arab history says that a caravan was coming North from Yemen sometime after the well of water sprang up. The men of the caravan noticed that birds were circling over the valley. They knew that birds would only circle if there was water, so they redirected their caravan to go see. When they entered the valley, they found the well of water, and they found only Hagar and Ishmael.

It was odd to see only a woman and a small child out in the middle of nowhere, so they named the valley "Faran" which in Arabic means: "The Two Runaways". Faran in Arabic is Paran in the Bible.

The Bible also goes on to mention the children that Ishmael had. Kedar, the second son of Ishmael, was the person whose descendants settled in Mecca permanently; so they became the tribe of Quraish - that Muhammad eventually came from.
