Exotic animal:

If you were talking about some sort of exotic animal that you don't have as a pet, leave it alone. If it's in it's natural habitat, such as a penguin that's in a cold place, it should know what to do. Animals have natural instincts. If it's not in it's natural habitat, go to the zoo and say you have an animal that needs a home.

House pet: Dogs and cats and birds

If you're talking about a house pet, it should have enough fur if it's a dog or cat. If your dog is one of those hairless breeds, go to one of the nearest Pet Barn, Petco, or Petsmart. Those stores should have what you want.

If you're talking about birds, such as Budgies, like I have, throw an old blanket over their cage at nighttime. I would expect bigger bird to claw at the blanket, but it's worth a shot.
