Germany had sunk the Lusitania, which was a British liner carrying 128 American citizens, who all died. They also sunk many other merchant ships. Then Germany attempted to get Mexico to turn on the United States by sending them the Zimmerman note. This note was intercepted and sent to the U.S. The U.S. got increasingly angry at Germany, and President Woodrow Wilson asked for a declaration of war against Germany from Congress.
Germany. More specifically, the German ambassador in Mexico, Arthur Zimmerman.
The Zimmerman Message was a coded message that was intercepted and decoded by British Intellegence. On January 16, 1917 Author Zimmerman sent a message to the German Ambassador in Washington. The message proposed that Germany and Mexico form an alliance if US entered the first world war. It stated that Germany was going to begin unrestircted submarine warfare on February 1, 1917. They wanted to keep US neutral but if it didn't succeed, they wanted an alliance with Mexico so that if US entered the war against Germany they would have the Mexicans to their south to face as well. The incentive for Mexico was that they would reclaim territory in New Mexico, Texas, and Arizona. Mexico declined the offer. On April 2, 1917 Woodrow Wilson asked Congress for a decloration of war and declared War on Germany
Nothing forced the US to join WW1. They just wanted to make sure that their allies were safe. Zaragotha (Zara) During world war 1, british intelligence intercepted a telegram sent from the German forces to Mexico. This was known as the Zimmerman Telegram. In this message, Germany asked for Mexico to attack the U.S., to distract them from joining the war in Europe to help their allies. Mexico replied no, because of past loss in a war against the U.S. There was also The Sussex Pledge, a promise which Germany broke, stating that they could not use unrestricted submarine warfare. That is because through the Zimmermann Note, Germany asked Mexico to keep America busy with more and more conflicts in the South. And in return, Germany said that they will reclaim the lost lands from America for Mexico (which was a lie that they told Mexico).
Winston Churchill.
Woodrow Wilson asked Congress to declare war on Germany on April 2, 1917. Germany had resumed unrestricted submarine warfare and also tried to get Mexico to attack the United States and promised to return lost territory to them if they did. Wilson said he wanted to make the world "safe for democracy."
America never joined/allied with Germany in World War I and II. America was an ally and Germany was an axis. But America did join partially because of Germany. Germany announced that they would use their submarines on anyone and America felt threatened and decided they needed to take action. Germany also contacted Mexico and asked Mexico to help Germany defeat America.
When Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, FDR asked for war against Japan, Germany, and Italy.
The question was asked on the 27th of June 2010. On that day Argentina beat Mexico by 3 goals to 1 in the FIFA World Cup, so Mexico did lose that day.
