I've been to the theater and seen many 3D movies but glasses are always required to get the 3D effect. Many places are now selling 3D TV's. Are special glasses needed to get the optimum 3D effect at?
3d TV's without glasses are becomming more and more available, however, as of right now, they have not been perfected and are not as good as the ones that you need glasses for.

There are two technologies in use with 3D television. Active 3D requires glasses that have batteries while passive models do not. Crosstalk in active glasses has been a problem but it depends on the make of glasses and television. For passive 3D, look at Sony, Visio, Toshibe or LG.
