Sydney harbour bridge breakefast :Six thousand people in Australia have tucked in to an unusual breakfast sitting on the world-famous Sydney Harbour Bridge.
The bridge, which on weekdays is packed with commuters on their way to work, was closed to traffic and its eight lanes covered with grass for a picnic, as part of a Sydney food festival.
Accompanied by musicians, the picnickers feasted on freshly-baked bread, jam and fruit. They were chosen from 45,000 people who applied to take part in the event.
The bridge joined the city of Sydney (at Dawes Point) to the North Shore (at Milsons Point) obviating the need to travel by ferry or make a substantial trip around the harbour foreshores towards Parramatta and back.
