the easy way i found is to hook a battery charger up to the jumper contacts

The other type of charger requires the square battery be removed from the Olympus camera. The charger is plugged into the wall and the contacts of the battery are connected with the contacts on the base. Once charged, replace battery in camera.
Sounds like the contacts are still touching some how. Take the keyless apart and spray electronics contact type spray on the contacts and the points where the battery connects to see if this will help. Are you using a brand battery or a cheap-o?

I open the back and change the battery, if that does not work I see if the internal contacts can be cleaned and if they need to be cleaned. If the cleaned contacts don't work I buy a new one and have it programed for the car.
