Koalas live in bushland, where a variety of other native Australian animals may live in their habitat. In the trees can be found ringtail possums, brushtail possums and other possums unique to particular localities. Greater gliders, sugar gliders, yellow-bellied gliders and squirrel gliders may also live in the same tree as a koala. On the ground, in this bushland habitat, can often be found wallabies, wombats, quolls, bandicoots and echidnas, among other creatures.

Birds include kookaburras, lyrebirds, scrub pheasants, tawny frogmouth, and parrots such as cockatoos, lorikeets, galahs, corellas and rosellas. Goannas, eastern water agons, skinks and a variety of snakes are also common in this type of bushland.

Possums (not opossums) are the only other animals which are arboreal (tree-dwelling) and live in the koala's bushland environment. These may be ringtail possums, brushtail possums, or any of the six species of gliders, e.g. sugar gliders, feathertail gliders, etc. Quolls, carnivorous marsupials, will also climb the heights of a eucalyptus tree, but they are less common in the koala's distribution area.

Wallabies, kangaroos, bandicoots and wombats are terrestrial animals which live beneath gum trees. There are also many snakes (such as the carpet python, brown snake and red bellied black snake) and lizards which live in that environment. The goanna is a monitor lizard which readily climbs trees.

Australia has many bush birds which live in the same environment. These include kookaburras, magpies, lyrebirds, friar birds, whips birds, various cockatoos and rosellas, just to name a few.

There are many other animals living in a koala's habitat. Ringtail possums and Greater gliders share the same niche as a koala as all of these animals are capable of living entirely on eucalyptus leaves, and they are primarily arboreal, or tree-dwelling.

Koalas live in bushland, where a variety of other native Australian animals may live on the ground. These can include other species of possums and gliders, wallabies, wombats, quolls, bandicoots and echidnas, among other creatures. Birds include kookaburras, lyrebirds, scrub pheasants, tawny frogmouth, and parrots such as cockatoos, lorikeets, galahs, corellas and rosellas. Goannas and a variety of snakes are also common in this type of bushland. There are also many native frogs, not to mention thousands of species of insects, including beetles, cicadas, flies, moths and butterflies.

Koalas live in native Australian bushland, which is full of living plants. Besides eucalyptus trees, in a koala's habitat there can be callistemon (bottle brush), melaleuca, banksia, leptospermum, grevillea and wattle trees. Various native grasses, wildflowers and native daisies, and shrubs such as emu bush cover the ground as well.
