Britain fought from 1939 to 1945 and did not 'exit' the war. I wonder if you're confusing Britain some other country?
It was Great Britain.
At this time "Britain" wasn't known as "Britain", it was "The British Empire," which spanned over canada, australia, and a lot of africa. People say that these men were sent to fight for britain, which they were, but they were british. I dont think any other nationalitis fought specifically for Britain.
The main allies Britain fought with in World War 1 were France, Russia and the United States. There were other smaller countries which were allied, like Greece, Romania and Italy, later on in the war.
