Any Chevy transmission will bolt to any Chevy engine.
Chevy Cruz is a diesel engine, some other models that Chevy offers with Deisel engines are the Impala, the Sierra, the Cheyenne, and the Chevy Silverado.
The intake gaskets are none to leak antifreeze. It is a real common problem with the vortec engines. Other then that there goods engines and have really no other problems.
There are many options, but the easiest would probably be the the LT1 350 block. You can get them out of a lot of other chevy's.

The Chevy Celebrity is an "A" body car. Other "A" body cars included Pontiac 6000, Buick Century and Oldsmobile Calais. The fore runner for "A" body cars was the Chevy Citation.
It is 1-3-4-2 on the 2.2L OHV engine at least. Not sure about the other engines.
There are two common 2.2L Chevy engines. One is the nearly indestructible 2.2L OHV engine and the other is a modern, efficient, generally well engineered but as yet unproven Ecotec 2.2L. They look very different. If the two engines look alike, they should be the same thing. Go ahead and do the swap.
Same as other 3.8 engines. It is near the harmonic dampener on the bottom front of the engine.
