you have to remove the intake, and there are 2 knock sensors.
There's no need to replace knock sensors, and there was never a 3.6 engine.
NO. there 2 different things / sensors.
depends on the sensor .your question has to have more detail to it .Due to there is all kinds of sensors such as, temp sensor, knock sensor,o2 sensor, iac sensor, map sensor, idle air control sensor, mass air flow sensor, shift control sensors, transmission sensors, coolant sensors, hell there is even brake sensors and rear end sensors, some even have body sensors.
Not until it starts giving you trouble.
the knock sensors are located in the top of the engine block. The intake has to be removed to get to the sensors.
Fortunately, on that model, the knock sensor is under the intake manifold. There are two sensors under there so you might as well replace both while your at it. If you take it to a shop they should only charge for parts on the second one.
There is NO right are left bank knock sensor. If you are smart you will replace BOTH of them while you have the intake off. You do have left and right bank oxygen senors, But not knock sensors.
The knock sensors yes there are two are located on either side of the motor (4.3LTR Vortec) below the heads in the center area of the engine block. There are a place for another sensor just above where the knock sensor goes but these are for other sensors. the knock sensors (there are 2 of them) are located under the intake manifold on the 5.3 engine,,,,,requires complete removal of manifold to replace.

The knock sensor are located in the valley between the cylinder heads on V6 and V8 engines V8s have two knock sensors
