The only thing that has right-of-way over a fire truck in an emergency is an ambulance.
When an emergency vehicle is on official business, it has priority over all other vehicles. Be patient and wait for the emergency to be over.
The actual dollar amount will vary by jurisdiction, but in relation to other vehicles, tailgating a fire truck will cost you much more. Emergency and police vehicles are given special protection in traffic.
It is illegal to pass a fire apparatus when it is responding to an emergency with its lights and/or sirens activated. If the fire truck is driving without its lights or sirens activated, it is no different than any other vehicle. That being said, keep in mind that a fire crew can be called to an emergency at any time, and it is best to leave them room to change lanes, move around stopped traffic, etc. Also, keep in mind that most firetrucks are large, heavy vehicles, and are often carrying thousands of litres of water. This means that they cannot maneuvre as quickly as a passenger car. It takes a firetruck longer to accelerate and stop that the average car. For your safety, and the safety of everybody else, keep clear of all emergency vehicles while they are responding to an emergency. Pull to the right and STOP when an emergency vehicle approaches you.
All the Emergency vehicles, which could include Law Enforcement vehicles, Fire Trucks or Ambulances, and/or a Volunteer's 'Personal' Vehicle which is in route to the emergency station or the location of the incident itself.(i.e. a volunteer fire-fighter in route to the fire station to grab the fire truck)
yes you must pull over for mail trucks the law states that the mail truck is the only government offical vehicle that you must pull over for. The ambulances and police cars are common manners No, you do not have to pull over for mail trucks. No state in the country has a law that requires anyone to give a mail truck the right-of-way. Also, there is no federal statute that overrides the state law. On the other hand, all states have laws that require other vehicles to give the right-of-way to emergency vehicles. But a mail truck is not defined as an emergency vehicle.
In the UK, one can rent a truck amongst other vehicles from Thrifty, Nationwide Hire UK, Scania, Hunter Vehicles, Centurion Truck Rentals and Gullivers.
Gm vehicles do not use inertia/reset switches
Mail truck !!! The reason being it is part of the Federal Gov. I would definitely say that the ambulance and fire truck have the right of way, if they are going to an emergency or transporting a person to the hospital. Very extensive discussion with citations and references at: http://www.snopes.com/autos/law/fourway.asp Bottom line, the mail truck is LAST.
A tow truck is an emergency response vehcile for accident scenes and any police scene it is at. A tow truck is not classed as an emergency vehicle in the UK.
Ususally truck drivers use them if it's an emergency, or just to talk to other truck drivers when bored. :)
Pull over off the road as far off and safely as possible right away until the emergency vehicles are well past you.
It depends on the state, there are a few stated that require all commercial vehicles to have AC however, most do not require it.
