It is said that Betsy Ross fashioned the first American Flag during the revolutionary war time period. There is no written document of it but there is evidence of the making of our flag today. Also, when she sewed it together there were only 13 stars symbolizing the 13 colonies.

∙ 11y agoShe didn't make the flag. This is a story her grandson made up in 1870. Congress gives credit to Francis Hopkinson who designed the flag. The first flag was made for the navy in 1776 and it was a basic British flag with stripes. The second flag had stars where the British flag had a cross.
