The Ghana empire was located in the western part of Africa.
European slave traders mainly went to the coastal West African modern day nations such as Liberia, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone.

Most Mauritians are descendants of slaves from India or from China, so technically they are Asian-Mauritians, but they are also African. This is comparable to how African-Canadians are North Americans.
The middle passage was the most inhumane part of the triangular trade, where enslaved Africans were transported from Africa to the Americas in inhumane conditions. They were packed tightly into ships, with many dying from disease, malnutrition, and poor treatment during the long and treacherous journey.
