If talking about landscapes, then Central America forms a bridge between Mexico and South America. To the east are the island nations scattered throughout the Caribbean Sea.

About 80 percent of Central America is hilly mountainous, and most of it is covered with forests. Rain forests cover much of the lowlands. In the higher regions, deciduous trees cloak many of the slopes.
