The iris (technically the diaphragm) lets light from the lens enter the camera.
The entire lens can let light fall on the film or sensor. But, much of the time it doesn't do that. An device called an iris makes the hole through which light passes larger and smaller. When all the way open it lets light from the entire lens reach the film or sensor, but it can make the hole smaller and only allow light from a part of the lens enter.
The Shutter.
When you click the camera the shutter behind the lens of the camera opens briefly and lets in the light on to the film. I am no specialist and this is what I learnt in school.
F22 - All the lenses I have for my 35mm camera have an F22 setting, this lets the least amount of light through the lens.
Yes, best kind. (clear lets the light through)
opening that lets light in
Ocular lens
You didn't say what make camera you are asking about. "IS" is used by some manufacturers (Canon, for example) to indicate a lens with built-in image stabilization, which lets you shoot handheld for longer exposures in moderate to low light.
Answer 1A very brief and very over-simplified description is that a camera is: 1. a "box"2. with a light sensitive media [film or electronic light sensing grid] at the back side,3. with an opening [lens or pin hole] at the front to admit light from a subject and to form an image on the media,4. and a method [a diaphragm to control the intensity of the light, and a shutter to control the length of time the light is allow to strike the media] of controlling the amount of light getting to the media.
The Lens. The Iris controls the amount of Light reaching the Retina.
An eye lense is the clear part of your eye that lets you see through it.
Think in terms of ray tracing. Light travels in a straight line in a pinhole camerabecause there is no refracting or reflecting optical element to change the path of the rays of light. The bottom of the film is on the line passing through the pinhole and top of the object. Since all light must pass through the pinhole, that means the top of the object exposes the bottom of the film.
Glass. Any transparent material, which is any material that lets light through, can also been seen through.
