Apollo 11 landed on the "Sea of Tranquility".
And now, one from the lighter side: The light side!
The first landing site was Mare Tranquilitatis, better known as The Sea of Tranquility.
The Sea of Tranquility
US astronaut Alan Shepard (1923-1998) was 47 when he walked on the Moon as part of the Apollo 14 mission (February 1971). He was the "first astronaut in space" for the US during his suborbital flight in February 1962, as well as the first man to play golf on the Moon.
John Glenn never landed on the moon. He orbited the Earth in 1962 (the first US astronaut to do so). He resigned from NASA in 1964 and pursued a career in politics. Glenn flew into Earth orbit again in 1998 as part of a NASA experiment into the effects of space travel on the elderly.
The rocket part called the lunar module lands on the moon.
Astronauts land on a half moon the same way that they would land on the moon any other time. A half moon is created when the sun is shining on only part of the moon, therefore making only that part visible. The other part that the sun is not shining upon is still there, just people on earth cannot see it because we are so far away.
The first astronauts landed on the Sea of Tran quality.
Neil Armstrong, he was part of the Apollo mission in 1969. *****Hope it helped*****

The third astronaut was Michael Collins did not land on the moon. even though he was part of the Apollo 11 crew, he was the command module pilot and orbited the moon while Armstrong and Aldrin landed on the moon.
No - no woman astronaut was part of the Apollo missions.
Yes there was. An astronaut was a part of the SA so he took a flag with him and put it on the moon.
The first female astronaut was Valentina Tereshkova and she was from the Soviet Union.

NASA astronaut Neil Armstrong was the first man to step onto the lunar surface on July 20, 1969. He was followed by astronaut Buzz Aldrin (just a few minutes later). Both were aboard the lunar lander Eagle, part of the Apollo 11 mission to the Moon.
