Red blood cells are part of the blood and travel where the blood goes. Blood is moved through the heart to the lungs and back to the heart. Then it is moved through arteries to all the tissues of the body and back to the heart through the veins.

Blood cells are part of the blood the blood doesn't return from the blood cells. Very basically, the blood is pumped from the heart through the arteries to various parts of the body. The blood does it's job of delivering necessary substances to the body's cells - such as nutrients and oxygen - and then transports waste products away from those same cells via the veins.
