The above answer is incorrect. The Choctaws migrated from the Northeast to Mississippi, as well as a few parts of Alabama and Georgia, in the 8th or 9th century. In the 1800's, the English forced them to move to a new territory, which is now Oklahoma. Some clans chose to stay in Mississippi and adapt to English provisions.
