Hello!
This is a rather interesting question you got there!
What I know so far is that there is smallpox virus is neither amongst the public nor even in animals since it only infects humans. But 2 countries in the world have kept smallpox virus samples- one lab in the United States and Russia also has the samples. There is more detail about this on Wikipedia.
I hope this answered your question! 😃
Small pox can occur anywhere. Most of the time, it is found in parts of the world that have not had much contact with it, because, they are not used to the disease and are not immune to it.
There is nowhere in the world today where one could be infected with smallpox. Smallpox was declared officially eradicated May 8 1980. Before 1980, it was possible to be infected while in the UK. In fact, Edward Jenner, the man who discovered the smallpox vaccine, was born in Berkeley, England in 1749. All information is courtesy of Smallpox Vaccine: Escape from a Deadly Scourge, which can be found at http://22484930.nhd.weebly.com/index.html.
His discovery led to the eradication of smallpox around the world.

Edward Jenner He noticed that people who had cowpox did not suffer from smallpox. He found a young boy whose family had smallpox and inserted the pus from a cowpox pustule into a cut. The boy survived.

It is very unlikely that they would carry smallpox. However, I have found that some of the most unlikely things can happen.
