yes
Of course, the organizers of the Tea Party would like you to think that they are acting in the tradition of the American Revolution, but personally I see little similarity. The original Boston Tea Party was a protest against a colonial power; the current Tea Party is a protest against a democratically elected government. Whether you like him or not, Barack Obama did win the Presidential election, fair and square. He is not the modern equivalent of King George III who was never elected by anybody.

Martin Luther King had a protest against slavery.
It was not considered a peaceful protest because tea was taxed and it made the king rich, but when we threw the tea, the king didn't make any money off of it, and so his pockets weren't completely full of gold, which was a sign of rebellion.

Old HickoryDetractor's NicknameDetractors and those who opposed Jackson's politics called him "Jackass". He was a Democrat and truly enjoyed the play on his last name. Because of this the symbol for the Democratic Party became the donkey. Another of his nicknames was King Andrew. Andrew Jackson was a strong president who used the office to forcefully pursue his agenda. Many political opponents, fearing Jackson's use of power, called him "King Andrew." Out of this nickname sprung an opposing party, the Whig Party. The term Whig originated in Britain during the Wars of the Three Kingdoms when it was used to refer derisively to a radical faction of the Scottish Covenanters who called themselves the "Kirk Party."
Peaceful protest.
