A switch basically represents a gap in the electric circuit. Electric current can pass through a circuit only if it is complete. An incomplete circuit can never pass a current through it. When the switch is in the 'off' position, the circuit has a break (gap) in it. When you put the switch in 'on' position, the circuit wire join and the circuit gets completed.
It is used to detect very small DC currents only. For AC signals Detectors are used.
Alternating current is more efficinent. It is wireless and more efficient than direct current. And it is safer. Plus Tesla is better than Edison
Diode is known as a rectifier because it only allows the current to flow in one direction. Diode is only effective when the input is AC.
A diode is a semiconductor electrical component that allows an electric current in only one direction. A tunnel diode, or Esaki diode, is a special type of diode that can operate very quickly using quantum tunneling, allowing it to work even with microwave frequencies (current switching direction billions of times per second).
A series circuit.
A path that allows only one route for an electric current is called a series circuit. In a series circuit, all components are connected in a single loop so that the current passes through each component in sequence.

A controlled and linear path of current is an electrical circuit. A complete circuit has a beginning and terminus for the flow of charge.
When a circuit is closed, meaning there is a complete path for the electric current to flow, the current will flow from the positive terminal of the voltage source through the circuit components and back to the negative terminal. This flow of current allows electrical energy to be transferred and work to be done in the circuit.
Electric current is a scalar quantity as it only has magnitude (typically measured in amperes) and no direction.
While there are many other uses for diodes, they are used mainly as rectifiers. Their ability to conduct electric current in only one direction allows them to be used to convert (rectify) alternating current to direct current.
Switches, fuses and circuit breakers are examples of some of the electrical parts which can connect or disconnect a circuit to a source of current. A diode does it for alternating current, but only for one half of each cycle. "Connecting" allows an electric current to flow through the circuit. "Disconnecting" stops an electric current from flowing through the circuit.
This is known as DC. Direct Current.
