The relationship is sketchy as of 01/12/09. King Nut is recalling the King Nut and Parnell's Pride brands of peanut butter. The peanut butter was made for them by another company. Although the connection with the nationwide outbreak has not yet been confirmed, I'm waiting to hear what other products from other companies have been affected. The investigation is ongoing.

Update on 01/14/09: The CDC has linked the peanut butter to the outbreak. King Cut's brand was made by Peanut Corporation of America. The plant is located in Blakely, GA. PCA has initiated a recall. See Related Links.

As of 01/17/09, Kellogg's and Hy-Vee have initiated recalls due to the fact that PCA supplied peanut butter/paste used in those products. See more Related Links.

If you are concerned about whether or not a product you have is involved in this recall, check the FDA Recall website under Related Links and look at the manufacturer's website. The manufacturers know of everyone's concern and most will have a comment about whether or not their products are involved - usually on the home page. Or you can call the manufacturer's customer service.

As of 02/19/2009, there are over 2200 items that have been included in this recall. Check the FDA website for updates.
