Kids either understand the value of school, or are at least willing to go through the motions of attending school, or they don't. Shorter days would have no effect on the number of kids who drop out.

Mst kids do not like going to school, sometimes because of bullies, mean teachers, or just the learning. I would say it's 50/50. So some do, and some want a longer school year.

No. I don't think so because if it is shorter school should go longer, and thus harder for kids to stay focused during hot weather (in the summer). But at the same time if they are shorter than there is more study time after school.
