You cannot live in a volcano. For one, it is too hot if it is active, and two, a volcano can make a surprise attack at any moment.
I don't think there were people in Mt. Vesuvius in 79. It was and still is an active volcano. If you mean what happened to the people in the surrounding areas when the volcano erupted, they were killed by the hot gasses that rolled down from the volcano.
Mt. Tambora last erupted in 1815 A.D. producing the largest historical eruption in human history. The eruption killed over 90,000 people, and created a large crater. Smaller eruptions have occurred since, and in 2011, the alert level was raised to 3 (out of four) due to ongoing shallow volcanic tremor. It is likely that Mt. Tambora will erupt again in the near future. This is an active and very dangerous volcano.
the answer to this question is strictly opinion. it propably isn't a very smart idea to build near a volcano anyways
Because normally they weren't that active but now they are very very active
People living near a dormant volcano may be unaware of the danger. A dormant volcano may become active at any point of timeand the people living near the volcano may not realize it is about to erupt.
Yes, if it is not active. But if it is...
mount pelee is indeed active so watch out people
some people say mnt.st helens is dormant but the only dormant volcano is paricutin a volcano in Mexico but mnt.st helens is the most active volcano in the paciffic north west

Mexicans and people who live on some islands off the coast of Australia.
People living around the area of ancient Pompeii are safer to day than they were 2000 years ago because of modern, very careful monitoring of Mt. Vesuvius. Vesuvius is still an active volcano and still poses a danger, but with the monitoring, people will have warning of an eruption and can take measures for their safety.People living around the area of ancient Pompeii are safer to day than they were 2000 years ago because of modern, very careful monitoring of Mt. Yes. Actually I can't sled down an active volcano, However, I once read an article about Japan where people did it. I forget the name of the mountain.
The volcano erupts that the people did not have any time to evacuate to a safe place and many lives are in danger.
Preferably evacuate, get out of there
Mt Erebus is a remote, active volcano, so any human would probably 'look at' -- as opposed to 'look out for' -- the glow in the sky from the active lava dome in the volcano.
