Support for capital punishment was falling in the UK throughout the 1960s, due to an increased awareness of the risk of miscarriage of justice and of human rights in general. The last executions in England took place on 13th August 1964- although the death penalty remained a legal option after that, it was never used again and was finally abolished in 1969 (though in Northern Ireland, it remained legal until 1973). Exact percentages of support for it during the two years you mentioned are difficult to give, but they were declining throughout the '60s.
