Net10 & Tracfone lock the sims & the phones. So you couldn't even use a net10 or tracfone sim on another one of their phones.

Why does the internet on tracfone phones not work?
Tracfone is not your average carrier. In fact they are not a carrier at all since they contract with well known carriers such as AT&T and Verizon to provide service to Tracfone customers. Tracfone does provide limited services through the internet, very similar to what you could get on other cell phones 10 years ago. Tracfone offers "Information Services" consisting of an internet news service, weather, and sports. They also offer internet ringtones, and graphics. To receive any of these services, you must purchase data services through Tracfone using your talk minutes. One dollar's worth of Tracfone data can be purchased for the equivalent of about 3 to 10 talk minutes, depending on what type of talk card you previously purchased. Even with an "internet" Tracfone model, you still cannot browse standard web sites or even mobile web sites with your Trancfone service.
Can you turn any phone into a tracfone?
There are two types of TracFones now, CDMA and GSM. This refers to the type of network used by the phone. And CDMA phone works only on CDMA networks, and same for GSM. GSM phones have SIM cards, CDMA do not (for the purpose of this discussion, anyway). I'm not clear on your reason for asking this question, but that's your answer. A CDMA phone does not have a SIM card. Also, to be used as a Tracfone, a phone must have the Tracfone software installed on it. This means that it must have been purchased as a "Tracfone" model. You can NOT bring a phone from a different service and use it as a Tracfone.

Well, From what I am understanding the answer is no. Tracfone is weird, because the SIM card serves no purpose, but it's cell phones wont work without it. All information is stored in the phone. Also, Tracfone's SIM cards have GSM with a CDMA lock on it. Basically, It has to do with how signals are received from the cell phone towers. However, I am trying to do the same thing right now, and maybe get a good result. =/ From tekgek: From my experience, yes, you can. Put the sim card in an unlocked phone, and it should work. I tried this with a nokia e51 and n81, and was able to send and receive calls. (Don't know about any of the other features). The only thing that you will lose is the ability to see how many units you have left. If that does not matter, then go ahead! From Spyguy10709 You really cannot do this. tracfone locks your IMEI of your SIM card to the IMEI of your phone. Unless you work there, you can't get around this. Sorry!
How do you unlock a tracphone?
Normally the code to unlock the sims card is 1111. If this dows not work the call the tracfone operator and they will give you the code.

Of course. Tracfones use the At&t network, and work anywhere in the United States. It works even in places where tracfones aren't sold. Don't worry about it. Other than being paid differently, tracfones are very similar to normal phones paid by contract.

I have a Tracfone and it is a good phone as long as you don't waste your minutes!

Can you have a Verizon phone and Tracfone service?
Tracfone is a MVNO (Mobile Vertual Network Operator) which is a fancy way to say they are a reseller. They buy minutes from Verizon and sell them to their customers. Tracfone is the oldest of the MVNOs. (They weren't even called that back then). Essentially, the network is the same but you pay a lot less on Tracfone's prepaid service. Verizon is a carrier using CDMA technology (as does Sprint). It is difficult to switch CDMA phones from one network to another. Its much easier on GSM which is the technology used by T-Mobile and AT&T. In fact, 95% of all networks in the world are GSM. The Bottom Line - You may be able to find a local Tracfone dealer who can "re-program" (hack) your Verizon phone to work on Tracfone. The main reason you'd want to do this is that Tracfone's service is really cheap but they offer only really crappy phones.
