It is a popular meeting place, because it's easy to spot, and in the large, concrete area that greets you when exiting the station, it can be hard to find who you're looking for. (At night time, in particular, it can get very crowded.) The story is that the dog used to wait everyday outside the station for its master to return. When finally the master died, it continued waiting and waiting for as long as ten years. To commemorate its loyalty, the statue was created.
