John Berkeley, also known as Lord John Berkeley, was an English nobleman who played a key role in the colonization of New Jersey as one of the eight original proprietors of the colony. He was also a co-founder of the town of Berkeley, California, which was named in his honor. Additionally, he served as one of the Lords Proprietors of Carolina.
