Alps is a cold freezing mountain. Just like humans plants also have a limit in the temperature that they can tolerate. They are not capable of tolerating high cold. Then also some type of natural vegetations are found on freezing hilltops. To a height of tolerable coldness we can find coniferous trees and at the most height we can find mosses and lichens. They are called plants because of the presence of chlorophyll. If they lacked it they would become a fungi.
