(eg. on a pocket clip where at least part of the knife is sticking out or on a belt) Assisted opening knives are legal, however they are frowned upon unless there is a clear reason for their carry and use. Switchblade and Stilleto type knives (fully automatic opening) are illegal. Butterfly knives are legal to buy and sell, however they are for home and/or decoration use only and are technically illegal to carry on your person. (Depends on the officer how strictly this law will be followed, many don't care as long as it's in open view) It is illegal for a civillian to carry any knife onto a school campus, post office, airport, courthouse, or any other such county, state, or federal-owned land that has metal detectors and/or signs prohibiting them.
