The term supreme leader is most likely to be used in a military dictatorship. Kim Jong Il of North Korea would be a good example of a supreme leader.

The Supreme commander was of course Hitler, but it would probably be more accurate to call Himmler the leader of the Holocaust.

This was the Supreme Court of 1938. They basically decided that it would be the President who would determine the number of lower courts in the system. It made it much easier for future Presidents to designate Supreme Court members.

The appeals system is a little complicated, but essentially: the person who has received the death penalty would need to appeal to the Supreme Court and then the Supreme Court would have to grant a writ of certiorari. The "complicated" part comes from the fact that it would have been appealed to lower courts (the state Supreme Court, or a Circuit Court of Appeals) before the US Supreme Court would agree to hear the appeal.

In Germany, The Nazi Party gained power, making Hitler the head of state and as such he was the complete supreme leader and could start and stop systems that he claimed to support 'the jews'. Because of this, the judicial system and ordinary police would have supported the Nazis through a combination of Fear and admiration for what was happening.
The Supreme Court would not be able to declare any of the President's actions unconstitutional, for fear of being removed. The system of checks and balances would be broken.
