Snakes are very varied and can prey upon small animals such as mice, birds and frogs or in some cases animals as large as small antelope (dog sized). There are animals that prey upon snakes such as eagles.

The Snakes play the role of Predators in the Food Chain..they can be first/second/third order depending on the ecosystem type.They generally keep a check on Rodents e.g.A Rat snake per year consumes 5 million rats though they do not feed daily
