A faulty intake air temperature sensor can cause a number of issues in a vehicle. Among these problems are taking longer to start on cold mornings and increased consumption of fuel.
It will cause overheating and engine may seal
I assume your asking what problems a bad IAT sensor will cause.... You may want to read ur questions before posting them... Very rare to see a bad IAT sensor on any car. They don't do much, unless you have a code for only a bad IAT, its not the problem. Simply measures underhood temp or the temp of the air after the air cleaner.
intake air temp sensor
Didn't have an air temp sensor in 92. Came out in 93.
P0073 is Ambient air temp sensor high. Likely cause is the sensor itself.
The air temperature sensor in built into the Mass Air Flow sensor.
exterior air temp sensor is in L.h mirror. it pops out of a little hole in the bottom.
the intake air temp sensor for an 07 Silverado is built into the MAF sensor. The MAF is located on the air intake hose.
Raise the hood, find the air cleaner, follow it to the throttle body. Somewhere in this plumbing there will be the air temp sensor.
The air temp sensor measures the temp of the incoming air. cold air carries more oxygen while hot air carries less. so according to the temp from the temp sensor the cars computer can accurately adjust the the amount of fuel to be mixed with the air into the engine. Note: there are other sensors that the computer uses to get the right air/fuel mixture.
Which temp? Oil, Water or Outside air?
