Can I remove a neighbor's attachments to my fence when they are on my property?

Legally you can remove a neighbor's attachments if they are on your property. You might want to consider mediation because disputes like this can escalate into problems.

Can a friend be added on the quitclaim if she is filing for chapter 7?

If she is about to file BK, then her interest in the property MUST be included in the petition as an asset. If there is enough equity, a BK trustee might even seize and sell the property- giving you your share of the money and after paying your friend the property exemption amount, keeping the remainder to pay off creditors. There is a possible defense called "bare legal title" but it would be up to your friend to prove he has no real possessory interest. Dont do it.

Your grandfather signed a warranty deed reserving life estate could this be pulled into bad debts husband might create?

If your grandfather signed a warranty deed reserving a life estate, his interest in the property may be protected from any bad debts that a husband might incur. A life estate typically provides the holder with the right to live in or use the property until their death, at which point the property would pass to another owner. However, local laws may vary, so it's recommended to consult with a legal professional for specific advice.

What problems can arise in using nondisclosure and noncompete agreements to protect intellectual property?

In using NDAs and non-compete agreements to protect intellectual property, you might end up scaring away potential employees. In Michigan if your mother uses a quitclaim to deed her house to you and she has a mortgage and credit card debt would you receive any benefits from the property?

A QUIT CLAIM deed may not be legal in Michigan if filed after a person dies. You might want to check with an attorney. I understand that the Quit Claim deed has been signed now, but it is not effective until it is filed and recorded at the county recorders office. If filed after your mother has died, the state, county or other agencies may make claim to the property based on tax or other claims. You'd probably be better if she could set up a trust of some kind. They aren't necessarily expensive and can be far more beneficial to the survivor(s). Any debt that occurs will be an obligation to her estate and as such you may loose any interest in the house. * Quitclaim deeds are very risky as they are not legally binding when they involve debts owed by the grantor and can be easily challenged in court often requiring current "owner" to file a "quiet title" suit. In the case cited a quitclaim would not validly transfer the property to the family member for the purpose of protecting it from creditor action and/or probate procedure.
