Constant harassment by Anglo settlers to sell or leave their lands, as the US government didn't recognize the Guadalupe-Hidalgo Treaty in terms of the possessions held by newly integrated citizens. It was the norm to be driven off or lynched; only those who married other Anglo settlers were able to keep their possessions.
