Booting up ..! A boot process is a step by step process with which a computer loads the operating system.
The operating system resides in secondary memory i.e., hard disk.when we boot our computer it is loaded into Primary memory i.e.,RAM and then loaded,this process is called booting
A computer is loading data when it is turned on and the operating system is being loaded.

Well it depends what software you have if it is windows the you will see a Windows asking for activation or user and password set up. In Linux it will be user login.
When I got a new Windows computer the first icons on the desktop where those of the factory-loaded programs. So I would assume that if there was no factory loaded programs nothing would appear!
