The only "proof" is the fact that every other end of the world prophecy has failed to come true. The 12/12/2012 prophecy comes from the ancient Mayan civilization. They believed the world runs in cycles, and that date was the end of the current cycle. They do not say if this "end of the world" will be natural disaster or anything else, just that it will end. That is why there are many theories about how it will end. There is zero scientific evidence that anything will happen, and their prophecies are simply part of an old, dead religion.
