Commas, fullstops and inverted commas. And there sequence should be:

"Susan, will you pass me the plate?" asked Mary.

If there is no question or exclaimation mark at the end of sentence then there should be a comma like this:

"Susan, please pass me the plate,"said Mary.

Hope this helps

In writing dialog, use quotation marks to indicate the spoken words by a character. Commas separate the spoken words from the rest of the sentence, and end the spoken words inside the closing quotation mark. Punctuation that is part of the spoken words (like commas, question marks, or exclamation points) should be placed within the quotation marks.

I'm not sure you understand what punctuation is. You use whatever punctuation is needed in the sentences you are writing. Punctuation includes things like commas, periods or full stops, quotation marks, and semi-colons. There is not a special list of things you include in a story.
