They beat slaves with all kinds of objects- often whips. Whatever came to hand could be used, slaves were hit with chair legs, horse whips, branded, tied up and left with a piece of fat cooking above them so molten bits of burning fat scalded them ect. Being forced to wear heavy chains and neck rings, the breaking of limbs and tearing off of flesh were all common too.
