In the Unites States and elsewhere, lobbyists serve a important and legal purpose. A lobbyist is hired by either a public interest group or a corporate or foreign group to let members of Congress know about the positions of their clients on various political issues of the day. The largest public lobbyist group of any kind is a non profit one called the AARP. This group represents the views of senior citizens and at age 55 an American can join the AARP.
