They serve an important role in an ecosystem by taking energy from hosts higher on the food chain and bringing it back to the lower end of the food chain. Birds and other insects feed on ticks, cycling the energy.

(i still think we could do without them, over all i think it would be good thing)

There is no purpose for a tick. They are just part of a food chain.
