To become a US income tax lawyer one needs a bachelor's degree and then a pass in the Law School Admission Test. Ideal bachelor's degrees would be economics, accountancy or finance. Working as an intern in an accountancy office would also be an advantage. The foundation stage is fairly general, but after this one would start to specialise, taking courses in business taxation, business aquisitions and liquidations. After gaining a JD a student may then wish to take a Master in Laws of Taxation. Tax lawyers must be licensed in order to practice and to do this one must pass a bar examination set by the state in which one wishes to practice.
