To get into Medical School you need at the minimum, a year (two semesters) of Physics, Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, and Biology. English is highly recommended, as well as coursework in calculus and genetics. A bachelors degree is recommended for medical school acceptance, but not required. You must then take the MCAT (Medical College Acceptance Test) and then get accepted into a Medical School. After that you should look at 4 years of Med school and at the least 3 years of residency in a specialized field. During your residency look forward to working 80 hours per week.

As for standard qualifications go, have a respectale GPA (3.5 or higher), score average to above average on the MCATs, 30+, have a good background showing a consistently strong interest in medicine and helping people.

So, 2-4 years of Undergraduate work, 3-4 years of Medical School, 3-5 years of residency, and then ta-da-----> Doctor.

Look at 11 years of solid dedication.

Requirements to Become a Doctor

The requirements for becoming a doctor vary somewhat depending on what type of doctor you'd like to be. Generally speaking, though, you can figure on eight years of school plus anywhere from three to eight years of residency depending on your medical specialty. School starts with a four-year bachelor's degree program with strong coursework in the sciences. Then comes another four years in medical school. The college courses you are required to take if you hope to go on to medical school are biology, inorganic and organic chemistry and English. Some medical school programs also require math or calculus and biochemistry. For most schools, you need a grade point average, or GPA, of 3.5 or above. 4.0 is the highest GPA a student may achieve.

You take the first part of what is called the Boards, or the United States Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) and/or the Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Examination (COMLEX), after your second year of medical school. The second part is in the fourth year, and the third part is taken during your first year of residency. Another requirement to become a doctor is going through your rotations starting in your third year of medical school. This is when you receive hands-on experience in the various specialties of medicine, such as pediatrics, internal medicine, surgery and emergency medicine, to name a few. Your residency, or internship, begins after graduation from medical school, and how long it takes depends on the medical specialty you choose. The length of time will range from three to five years.

Your last two steps involve getting your medical license. Rules will vary from state to state, but, in general, graduation from an accredited medical school plus completion of a minimum of one year in a residency program and passing a test such as the USMLE or COMLEX will earn you your physician's license. To become board certified in your particular medical specialty, you are required to complete your residency program and pass a comprehensive exam. After all that, you will then be considered a full-fledged medical physician.

>You would need to be good with people or at least be able to hide how much you hate them.

>If you are hemophobic this job is not an option. Hemophobia is the fear of blood and gore.

>You need to have charisma or persuasive abilities so people can know to trust you, even if in the end they lose someone, so you don't get people lashing out or trying to sue because they'd feel you were knowledgeable and trustworthy and the reason why the person passed away is because it was their time.

>Again with speech you'll need to be able to give them the bad news without sounding insensitive or lacking emotion. You'll need to be able to sympathize even if you don't care.
