The problems faced by villagers after migrating to cities can be divided into two categories - economic and social.

  • From an economic perspective the villagers face difficulty finding work that is suitable for them as well as the pressures of a higher cost of living. They also have to deal with the lack of access to basic services such as healthcare and education that are usually more accessible in rural areas.
  • From a social perspective the villagers must adjust to a new culture and lifestyle which can be challenging if they are unfamiliar with city life. They may also struggle to make new friends and build a sense of community as they leave behind their family and friends in their home village.

In addition the villagers may experience discrimination due to their rural background which can make it harder for them to assimilate and succeed in the city.
