Lord Buddha spread the message to not believe in caste system, rituals etc. However, If you meant Hinduism, then the Caste system is a crucial to this religion. Because Hindus believe in reincarnation, they perform their "duties" (dharma) to be good fated (karma), which gets them higher in the caste system (varna). This all really happened earlier. Now Hinduism is also free from the discrimination of caste system.
