There have been no confirmed deaths directly attributed to the release of information by WikiLeaks. However, there have been instances where the release of sensitive information has been claimed to have put individuals at risk.

It's hosted on servers in countries that don't care about the source of the information so those whose information has been stolen have no legal recourse to stop Wikileaks. It's not just one country either, so it can move around from one place to another - if it gets shut down one place, it can spring up in another. Also there are a lot of people who subscribe to the "information wants to be free" creed and who actively defend the existence of Wikileaks (without regard to who may be harmed by the release of the information - or how accurate the information is)

In the US, there are limits as to the amount of material belonging to another person through copyright that you can put online. Wikileaks ran afoul of laws regarding release of confidential governmental information.
