Edison did not follow any organized religion, and, when interviewed, did not seem to believe in any kind of personal deity or afterlife. He did believe there was an innate order in nature that he called, "Supreme Intelligence," but specifically denied the "God of the theologians."

Thomas Edison was raised as a Christian and was baptized in the Episcopal Church. However, he later identified as a Deist, which is a belief in the existence of a supreme being but rejecting organized religion. Edison believed in a God that created the universe but did not intervene in human affairs.
