Bernie Sanders was born into a Jewish home. His father was a Polish immigrant, and while his family was not Orthodox, they did observe major holidays like Passover, and Bernie had a bar mitzvah. But at some point, he lost interest in organized religion. While he has never denied his Jewish background, and has in fact expressed pride in it, he no longer observes Judaism on any regular basis, and seems to have personal beliefs that are more aligned with being a humanist.
