Give the child time and let Him/Her make the decision.

----------------------------------------------------------------

Practicing Catholics usually insist the children of mixed faith marriages are raised Catholic.

Opinion from a CatholicNot raising a child in any religion and expecting them to make a decision when they are older, to my knowledge, never works. A Catholic entering into a mixed marriage (the other spouse is not Catholic but is baptized) must promise to raise the children Catholic, and the spouse must be aware of this promise.

Mary Queen of the Scots was beheaded for basically being a Catholic and plotting to kill her Protestant sister Queen Elizabeth I. Being a Catholic in Protestant England was not the best thing. The kings' subjects should be the same religion as the king himself.

Is Damian Mcginty is Catholic?

I am not 100% sure however he comes from Derry so there is quite a big chance that he is catholic or Protestant. Ireland has a lot of Religion Problems between the 2 Christian sects so he probably would not talk about and I do not think we should either. It is his privacy and because he may believe in a different religion that doesn't effect his singing.

Im 15 and my parents make me go to catholic mass do i not have the right to refuse as i disagree with a lot of the beliefs of the roman catholic church or am i too young to think for myself?

Have you been Confirmed? The standard age of consent in the Church is 12, so your age would allow you to make your own decision regarding your religious beliefs. That being said, out of respect to your parents, you should legitimately look at why you disagree with the religion your parents raised you in. Have you studied about the Roman Catholic Church and where it came from and why it teaches what it does? Or did you just decide on your own that you disagree without having honestly looked into it. Ask your parents to explain why they believe what they do. Talk to the priest at the church you attend. Give the religion an opportunity to "win" you over so to speak. If after that you legitimatley disagree, then your parents should respect your wishes not to subscribe to the Catholic faith. Hope all goes well.

The fact is that the Catholic Church is just that, a Church, and it has been for two thousand years. It is the Christian religion, so no it can never be considered apart from that.
